My Trip Story
1,000 Lanterns. Vacation to Borobudur at Vesak |
After graduating and returning to my hometown, Pati. I insisted on come and see the 1,000 lanterns. Preparation has been since early 2018. Start checking Vesak dates and make notes on Android.
Waisak 2018 on May 29, at the beginning of May I search hotel in Magelang which was close to Borobudur temple. After booking the hotel, I started search route to Borobudur temple from Solo/ Surakarta. Why not from Pati, my hometown, because I went to Magelang with my younger brother and he studied in Solo. From Solo to Magelang we go through Selo (Boyolali).
One week before Waisak, bad news came, on Facebook many post Mount Merapi erupted. If the mountain erupts, dust can cover the temple, most likely the Vesak celebration is in the room and the release of 1,000 lanterns is canceled.
If the event is not canceled we must go through Yogyakarta. From Google Maps, Solo-Magelang is faster through Boyolali, fast 1 hour trip (travel route). When it fails it always passes Jogja / Yogyakarta.
3 days before going to Magelang. I am looking for information on the release schedule of the lanterns at Borobudur Temple. From Instagram, Google, Facebook I find out. Because I don't want to fail like before. Finally, I got the official website, Walubi.
A few days before and when I went to Magelang Merapi was calm. Can try a new route through Selo, Boyolali and most likely can see the release of lanterns.
I was also almost wrong, Bro, because my friend gave information about the release of the lantern at the turn of the Vesak night. But the release of 1,000 Vesak 2018 lanterns on May 29, at 11:00 p.m. or precisely in Vesak. From that information I changed the date of the hotel order. So if you want to watch 1,000 lanterns next year, you must check this website.
When Waisak night, visitors to the lantern release must patiently wait for the Buddhist congregation to finish praying and leaving the location. After that we are allowed to enter. Entering the main door, i suggestions to ask event officer or parker.
When you enter, you must pass the security check, your bag, your jacket will be checked. Because of the huge enthusiasm of visitors, from tourists, students and people from outside the city of Magelang want to watch this event, some are stuck outside the door, including me. Only can see the release of lanterns from outside the entrance.
I saw the Lampion was released |
But that is the release of the first session Bro and unexpectedly there will be 5 lampion release sessions, if not wrong. Not disappointed and i can watch session 2 release until the end of the session.
